This is Michaels Yovanic's first season with the Texas Tornado. Yovanic started playing hockey at the age of seven and says that his family has been the most influential part of his hockey development. Also known as "Yovie" to many teammates, Michael says his most memorable hockey moment was fighting and recording two assists all in one game. Yovie's favorite NHL team is the Calgary Flames and his hockey idol is Derek Boogaard.

Michael is an outdoorsman when not playing hockey. He loves to hunt and fish. Yovanic likes listening to country music, and his favorite singer is Toby Keith. His favorite foods are chicken alfredo pasta and steak. But when he's in the arena his favorite food is pizza. Yovanic aspires to make a career out of playing professional hockey.
